The International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) came to Association Acumen after five years of steady declines in membership.
The Challenge
The traditional approach of reaching members through email or direct mail no longer effectively engages the target market. With the need to reach younger members, the association had to get creative in how it engages current and potential members.
The Solution
Together with IASIU leaders, Association Acumen created a well-defined membership plan. We knew we had to connect with members where they are, often across channels: in-person at annual conferences or certification programs; exclusive member publications; email marketing; social media; and, webinars.
We also dedicated staff to lead membership renewal campaigns and personally follow-up with new and lapsed members.
We redesigned the website with easier-to-access member benefits and valuable, custom content. We also launched a new webinar program and a revamped their quarterly membership magazine (now award-winning magazine).
The Outcome
Association Acumen’s membership plan achieved renewal increased member participation, acquisition, and retention. They jumped from 3,300 members to 4,100 members in the span of three years and continue to see yearly membership increases.
