Designed to help mentor new board members, facilitate teamwork between the Executive Director and board leaders and to provide a refresher course for continuing board members, our Board Leadership Acumen cards offer best practices for all areas of association leadership.

The cards are great as an icebreaker at board meetings, retreats and orientation sessions and are divided into three sections:

• Governance provides a solid review of board responsibilities and addresses frequently asked questions.
• Case studies offer real-life examples of situations board members face every day and provide opportunities to discuss options and solutions.
• The trivia section provides insights into the impressive history of associations since their inception.

We offer a plethora of resources on board governance, including our informative Leadership Acumen newsletter packed with high-level strategies and useful information that will take your board to the next level.

Board education doesn’t stop there. We also work with our board leaders to stay current on best practices in association leadership by sharing many other publications and articles, including the annual ASSOCIATIONS Now Board Brief magazine. Our clients also send elected presidents and other officers to special trainings with their executive directors to help them maximize their partnership and strengthen their understanding of governance theory.
