Sandra Koehler, Compliance Director and Association Specialist at Association Acumen, has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE®) designation, granted by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

Koehler handles marketing, in-house education, professional development, accreditation, communications and public relations activities at Association Acumen. “It certainly enhances credibility, but to me, it signifies my commitment to quality and top-notch service in order to help our client associations in every way possible,” Koehler said. “I’m honored to have achieved the CAE and I want to thank Gail Bast, the President of Association Acumen, for encouraging me to pursue this goal,” she added. “Association Acumen is strongly committed to professional development and the concept that education is an ongoing process that never ends.”

To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have a minimum of three years experience with nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. Koehler exceeded all criteria requirements. To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. More than 4,000 association professional currently hold the CAE credential. The CAE program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

ASAE is a membership organization of more than 21,000 association executives and industry partners representing 9,300 organizations.
